General Manager Michaela Horan brings over a decade of restaurant experience to The Butcher Shop. In her 15 years in the hospitality industry, she's worn many hats, from busser to barista, bartender to server, and eventually climbed through the ranks of management.
Like Chef/Owner Barbara Lynch, Michaela grew up in South Boston, but it took a cross-country move for her to realize just how much she loved her hometown. After nine years working in the Bay Area, Michaela moved back to Boston in 2012 and was amazed by how much change she saw in the city's restaurant landscape. Boston was no longer home to only the old-fashioned restaurants she remembered, but a city that could easily keep pace with with the vibrancy and fast pace of San Francisco's food scene. Michaela has loved working with restaurant professionals across the city ever since her return and cites the passion of her co-workers as well as the constant learning opportunities as major sources of influence.
Prior to The Butcher Shop, Michaela spent time at now-closed Tavern Road; there, she worked as a server and bartender alongside Ryan McGrale, one of the original bartenders at our sister restaurant, No. 9 Park. She credits Ryan, as well as Tavern Road owners Michael and Louis DiBiccari as her mentors in hospitality.
In her role as General Manager, Michaela oversees restaurant operations from nightly service to staff education. She is proud of The Butcher Shop's place in the South End's community, and looks forward to welcoming neighbors and visitors alike.
